Summer Holidays Dorset

Bournemouth view

Dorset has some beautiful green rolling hills, thatched villages and popular seaside resorts. For people looking for interesting walks, the Jurassic coastline is wonderful and memorable with the best known coastal feature being the cliff arch Durdle Door. No less spectacular is Chesil Beach a long (18 miles) pebble (large stones) beach that you can see clearly on maps like Google / Bing maps.
The most popular resort is Bournemouth, known for it's long sandy beaches. The town is bustling in the summer with a lively atmosphere, Weymouth is also very popular and there are a number of caravan or holiday parks close to it which can make it affordable for family holidays. Culturally Dorset is associated with authors like Thomas Hardy and the county town of Dorchester is well worth a visit.
